Obama's ear, Maori grimace, Afghan body builders
Sculptor David Adickes worked on his large sculpture of President Barack Obama Tuesday at his Houston studio. The 18-foot-tall statue will be installed at President’s Park in South Dakota. (David J. Phillip/Associated Press)
New Zealand artists Francis Upritchard, second left, and Judy Millar, second right, posed with members of the Maori group “Waka Huia” for the opening of the New Zealand Pavilion at the Venice Biennale Wednesday. The Biennale is a major art festival that dates back to 1895. (Tony Gentile/Reuters)
Afghan men posed at a Mr. Afghanistan bodybuilding competition in Kabul, Afghanistan, Tuesday. Hundreds of competitors entered the contest. (Omar Sobhani/Reuters)
These three pix have nothing in common, but I combine them here to remind everyone of the often-interesting photoblog at the Wall Street Journal. The material there is typically not as spectacular as those assembled at Boston.com's Big Picture, but are often fascinating and show material not encountered elsewhere.
