Tilted-room sketches by Shaun Micallef

A sketch from The Micallef P(r)ogram(me).  And if you like that one, here's more:

Second repost (originally posted 2013) because after checking all the news online, I needed a laugh.  And this never gets old.

An Honest Trailer for Severance

It has been about five years since I last posted a video from Honest Trailers.  This one about Severance has quite a few insightful and LOL observations in the dialogue - although it's probably only funny if you've seen the series.

A Dane makes fun of Norwegian swimming rules

Anders Lund Madsen is a professional comedian.  These supplemental notes from the uploader/subtitler:
The reason i didn't translate "Stuper" and "grunt" is because Anders is using them in the Danish sentence, and that is why there is an "Er" in the end of "stup."
The rule really means, "don't swim if you don't know how deep the water is."

Brygge = A pier (hope that is right)
Stupebrett = A Tipper

"Dytt" or "dyt" is a Danish slang word, that means hump... But in Norway it means push...
Since I'm half German (and half Norwegian), I particularly liked these lines:
"Get some friends!"
"But I'm German!"
"Then go online!"

(Re-reposted from 2011, just for laughs).(and reposted for the 2025 swimming season)

Amazing dishwasher

I particularly like the claim that it "cuts cycle time by over 4000%."  Via Neatorama.

What do billionaires want?

I'll resume serious blogging after the weekend, but wanted to share this Sarah Cooper video now.

A period should signify a full stop

The news as it was written for the newscaster:
“Good evening, I’m Ken Bastida; Dana is off tonight.

He was murdered and then set on fire while celebrating his birthday. The body of Jimmy Frezshi was found by firefighters on Monroe Street…"
The result when read off the teleprompter:
“Good evening, I’m Ken Bastida. Dana is off tonight; he was murdered and then set on fire while celebrating his birthday.

The body of Jimmy Frezshi was found by firefighters on Monroe Street…"
Reposted from 2009 to add this example from the BBC:

Listen again... "This is BBC World News.  I'm Jonathan Charles, kept hidden for almost two decades and forced to bear children."

Reposted from 2018 because I needed a laugh today.

(Title pending)

People having fun in the Netherlands.  Enjoyable to watch, but I had no idea what title to use on this post.  Suggestions welcome.

A courtship letter written in 1866

"This letter was performed by Taron Egerton at Union Chapel, London, for Letters Live, which stages live readings of famous and remarkable letters in front of an audience."

Why Trump wants Joe Biden back

I've set it to start after the first minute of silliness.  For the TLDV crowd, if 18 minutes is too long, just use the slider to hear the 11:28 - 13:00 segment.  I'll close comments for this; I don't have time today to be curating arguments.

Jon Stewart muses about Kamala Harris

I've set up the video to start at the 2:42 mark.  For those who want to skip to the LOL moments, go to 6:15, 9:32, and 11:58.  The monologue effectively ends at 15:00, at which point it reverts to standard comedy schtick.

The "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch

John Cleese and Graham Chapman (before their Monty Python fame), with Tim Brooke-Taylor and Marty Feldman, lampooning the stereotypical "rich people claiming they were happier when they were poor."

One of my favorite comedy bits of all time - and one that is especially relevant in times of economic uncertainty.   I had posted this a long time ago, but the video was pulled from YouTube - so watch it now, because it may not stay up long.

Reposted from 2010 because that old video was in fact taken down a second time, but a Britbox version is now available on YouTube, so this may stay up for a while.

Reposted for 2024 because we need laughs now more than ever.

Hilarious ASMR parody

Sadly, I've never learned how to embed a TikTok video, so the above is a composite I created from screencaps.  The one on the right shows the outreach vehicle of the "Tiger Van" used by the Como Zoo and Observatory in Minnesota.  The screencap on the left is from a luxury vehicle (Mercedes) video posted at mycarspace.  It's a bit odd because it is an ASMR video rather than a conventional sales promotion video.  ASMRs are designed to create a "pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli" (see my old post from 2018 about ASMR in movies).

With that introduction I'm sure you will enjoy the parody.  I can't embed it, but you can view the original this link.  Go fullscreen and be sure to unmute.

An updated, revised, hyperencabulator video

I posted the original encabulator video in 2011.  The Rockwell Retro Encabulator was posted several years ago.  Now this new version.  If you have difficulty following the text, try turning on subtitles.
