The comment about the 'gringo fantasy of joining a native culture and leading the resistance' is great. There's a LOT of movies based on that premise. I wonder what psychological need that fills.
My fear is that becomes or already has been co-opted, like Fair Trade, into a marketing hook. The fact it has an animal avatar makes me fear the worst.
My thoughts exactly. Should we preserve the rainforest? Heck yes! Will buying a box of tea do that? I have my doubts. If I donate to a cause, I donate to folks who are doing something directly, not by purchasing a consumer good and hope that some large company will do this for me.
