Showing why she joined Betty Grable as the most requested pin-up of WWII servicemen. I found two interesting items in her biography at Wikipedia:
At 5'6" (168 cm) and 120-lb (55 kgs)she was tall for women of her time and her height was a concern to her movie star dancing partners like Fred Astaire.Photo source.
In 1940 she started a manicure trend. Hers were longer than previously worn, more oval than pointed, and fully covered with red polish. (Previously there was no polish covering the moon of the nail or the tip.)
That's an incredible photo of a beautiful woman, but, I think it may not be the most popular one. I do believe this one was it:

I know it was mine way back in the late 40s when I was a kid and smitten by Rita's beauty.
She also altered her hairline. Her real hairline started about 1 inch above her eyebrows. Still - she was gorgeous and talented.
ReplyDeletei dreamt once that we were going out together and she took me o a potluck where we made polenta..
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of anyone altering their hairline. Is that even possible? Wouldn't it leave a million follicle holes on your forehead? Why haven't I seen some punk kid with his hairline altered into a spiral or something?
ReplyDeleteThis picture is way hotter than that other one. You can almost see through her shirt!
