Why you shouldn't talk to the police
This is part 2 of a pair of presentations (apparently at a law school) posted at BoingBoing last year. The person in this video is Officer George Bruch of the Virginia Beach Police Department. Listen to him explain what "off the record" means...
Very good video. After watching it, my sweetheart and I can't watch the "true crime" murder shows with the same attitude any more. Any time they police take the suspect into the interview room, we're hoping he'll ask for a lawyer, but it almost never happens. Most people talk themselves into jail, saying things their defense attorney is not going to be able to undo.
And here is Part One. From a law school professor and former defense attorney, describing *why* you shouldn't. Do you know all the laws at both the local, state and federal levels in every country. If not, you may admit you broke a law you don't even know it exists.

Absolutely never, under any circumstances, should you ever speak with a cop. Ever. And this video shows why.

ReplyDeleteOne thing he said by innuendo is that juries are stupider than criminals. That's been my experience, too.
