A fire ant appears to be pulling off a one-handed breakdance move on a log. The insect held the pose - known as a hand freeze in breakdancing circles - for 30 seconds. Robertus Agung Sudiatmokos photographed the unusual sight using a macro lens in the village of Cibinong, Indonesia.

    I would really like to know what the purpose of this pose is.

  2. Not to be a buzzkill but it appears to be the work of an ant hanging by one leg and a creative photographer.

  3. Yeah, the angle of the waist and abdomen coincide with Anonymous #1 explanation implicating a reversal of gravitational forces...

  4. Nahh, it's a Tai Chi ant - quite possibly a master of the early Wu style.

  5. The more I think about it, the more I suspect the photographer inverted the image...
