A "tool-using fish"

That's how this blackspot tuskfish has been described after it was photographed smashing a clam against a rock in order to access the meat inside.  Whether the rock qualifies as a "tool" is discussed at the Wired Science link.

  1. Thrushes and blackbirds use stones as anvils - it's stretching a point to call banging something against the scenery as tool-using.
You might as well say it's using the water as a tool when it swims by pushing against it.
