Ancient pulltoys
Top: Little horse on wheels (Ancient Greek child’s Toy). From tomb dating 950-900 BC. Kerameikos Archaeological Museum in Athens. Bottom:Toy buffalo on wheels. Terracotta, Magna Graecia, Archaic Age.
I'm imaging a toddler obsessed with the little wheeled toy, pushing it down a dirt lane, tugging on its now long decayed string and bringing it along to a market, showing it to every adult around the well and pulling it, following along behind papa as he leads a living plow animal to the barn for the night.
They almost look... modern. A little.
ReplyDeletepushing the invention of the wheel back even further, no doubt.
