How to catch and cook a puffin
The catching involves the use of a giant "butterfly net", and near the end of this video the puffin is cooked by burying it in the pumice of a volcano. The spectacular location (Vestmannaeyjar Island, Iceland) is highlighted in the second video, along with the actual netting. Gordon Ramsay's dialogue is rather annoyingly peppered with expletives, but the scenery is awesome.
From what I heard -- via an aviculturist friend who did a post-oil spill puffin rescue one summer and actually tried some cooked puffin -- the flavor is terrible. Acquired taste, I guess.
