Discussion re coverage here.
The first images will be from Curiosity'sforwardbackward HazCam taken on the surface after landing. Bandwidth will be limited as Curiosity will communicate to Earth via satellite Mars Odyssey orbiting Mars (plus Mars Express and MRO).
It's possible we get first HazCam thumbnail (128x128) already during Odyssey's first orbital pass within minutes after landing, and bigger images (1024x1024) during Odyssey's second pass. More and better images will follow in sol 1 (next day).
Talk about a gold medal effort!! Congrats to all the teams ~

ReplyDeleteIt was fun to see their joy last night when touchdown was confirmed and when the first photo of the wheel was projected on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a television, and I had no idea that this was even occurring. Thanks to you, I stayed up and watched it from your link. It was awesome. Again, I thank you, sir.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that.
DeleteI was pessimistic it would work, but they pulled it off so congrats to them.
