Flora and fauna of the White Sea
One of over 900 photos in a Flickr photoset by Alexander Semenov of life underwater in the White Sea, via Buzzfeed. (I'm embarrassed to admit I had to look up where the White Sea is.)
Don't feel too bad. After looking up the White Sea, I had to look up the Barents Sea.
And I like to think I have a reasonable grasp of world geography. I think it's above average anyway, which admittedly isn't saying much as an American.
When this picture first popped up, I thought it was of some modern finery creatively displayed in a jewelry store somewhere. Nice.
ReplyDeleteActually that was my first impression as well, which is why I chose it to leave at the top of the column at the end of the blogging day.
DeleteI'm surprised. Where did James Dickey's protagonist think he was going to in 'To the White Sea'?
ReplyDeleteSue, I'm not familiar with the book or its story line. I think you should read it and report back to the class after the holidays.
