The Connecticut legislature in session
House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, far right, speaks while colleagues play solitaire on their computers as the House convenes to vote on a new budget for the fiscal year in the Capitol, in Hartford, Conn., Monday, Aug., 31, 2009.
In all fairness we should point out that the lady on the left is playing four-suit spider, a difficult game that often takes 500 moves to solve. The fact that she is able to attempt this while devoting a proper measure of attention to her colleague who is addressing the budget issue shows much more mental capacity than that displayed by the dude behind her who is watching ESPN.
We are dismayed, however, that they use the web for such trivial matters when they could be further improving their minds by visiting blogs.

The screen in the right bottom corner has baseball on it too.
ReplyDeleteeh, if you knew Larry Cafero you'd understand...
ReplyDeleteHe's known to be quite the talker, and he has only 25% of the assembly on his side. Wasting time is about the only thing he can do.
