"If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed"

Gay people can quote the Bible too.

Via Buzzfeed.

  1. If they'd read the rest of the book they'd understand that that quote is from the Law of Moses, which, after Christ came, no longer applies.

  2. So are the many other quotes used by the other side to push their agendas... that is the point trying to be made here I believe.

  3. Unfortunately, while the snappier phrasings come from Moses, the policy comes from Paul - decidedly post-Christ.

  4. Nick - WRONG!!

    Matthew 5:17-20 (King James Version)

17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Of course, it's all fictional anyway.

  5. Considering how many Republican Congressmen have been caught fooling around lately, perhaps it is not wise to remind them of this particular passage?

  6. To the Anonymous comment above:

Yes he came to fulfill, which he did and now we no longer have to follow those things.

"So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

    Romans 7:4-6

  7. Guys guys.... I believe the phrase you're after is "snap!"

Also, if you're going to take one passage of the Bible as being the law of Moses, and not applying to post-Christ world - then all you're really saying is that these laws are societal based, which change through history depending on the people. Its the same God isnt it?

Based on that token: what the rest of the Bible says is irrelevant to our laws now. Which we all know right, considering the whole separation of church and state thing...

  8. This topic really stirs the pot.

  9. Don't you just love how Christians pick and choose which parts of the Bible they believe? "Thou shalt not steal," "thou shalt not commit adultery" are both part of Mosaic Law, but we're told we still have to obey those, right?

But we can ignore "thou shalt not eat any 'unclean' thing," "honor the Sabbath to keep it holy,"

And, of course, they also ignore this part of Mosaic law and any other parts of the Bible they find inconvenient.

  10. Yeah I agrey there. What about if a man lies with another man they should both be put to death.so wait there bible also says tho shall not kill, word put to death is the same thing as murdering or killing someone its just said in a better way, how can you justify that.the fact in some countrys gays get killed how is that right
