This is why Lyft and Uber are so very popular. The app shows you where you are and where you are going and indicates the cost before you actually summon the ride. Especially nice in a city that one is not familiar with.
Two thoughts on this: 1) It seems like this would be a risky move for a cabbie to take with so many people carrying smart phones these days. 2) It also seems that someone with just the slightest sense of direction would realize that they had faced way too many directions on the compass to be reasonable. But that's just me! :^)
My hometown, Vancouver! The provincial government has just passed legislation allowing ride sharing this Fall, but cities are still working out municipal regulations.
