DeleteThe last one cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh this morning!
ReplyDeleteRe: Train crossing barrier apparently not calibrated
ReplyDeleteActually, it is manually operated. As hard as it seems to believe, you can see the operator standing on the left, by his blue shed... He probably got drunk or was distracted by tv/mobile/boredom.
Disaster waiting to happen
i am surprised that that hummingbird went for that hat, as that hat seems a bit too orangey to attract a hummingbird.

ReplyDeleteI've seen Youtube vids of train "cab rides" or "Fuehrerstandmitfahrt"s where there were manually-operated crossings, but the train or trolley had to stop, and someone from the train had to operate the gate before the train could cross, stop, and pick up the gateman(/woman) again.

BTW, these vids are a great way to see some off-the-beaten-path parts of Europe. When you need a vacation and can't afford one ...
I used to do "Bar trick with a cloth napkin" as a kid. No idea where I learned it. Forgot about it until now. Time to wow some friends again with an old favorite. :)
