"Gameday" - as seen by Stephen Fry
Fry appears to be delightfully overwhelmed by the spectacle of American collegiate football. One has to admit, however, that if you're looking to find the absolutely most "over-the-top" venue to film, the Auburn-Alabama game would have to be one of the classics.
Which reminds me, for the rest of the season I'll be doing less blogging than usual on Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday nights.
Note he is overwhelmed by the spectacle/pageantry of the band/dancers/fans/jets - NOT the game. He didn't bother to show much of the brutality of American football in this segment - or is there more on the game?
The clip is from Stephen Fry's "America" - a multi-part series where he visits all 50 states and comments on anything he finds interesting. It's available on Netflix if anyone want to check it out.

ReplyDeletePer licsencing agreements in place by ESPN, CBS, and the Southearstern Conference; he might not have the ability to show footage of the actual game.
ReplyDeleteGood point.
