A "whip pistol"

A single-shot percussion pistol - with a whip attached to the muzzle!
.52 caliber, 9 1/2-inch braided leather-covered barrel with brass frame and underhammer action. Folding trigger. Brass escutcheon on grip with coat-of-arms and legend: Day's Patent/P. Hubbard 26 Newgate St. Gun with braided whip attached, measuring 136 inches. One-piece walnut grip.
I have a hard time picturing the practical utility of such a weapon. Close-up photos here.

(and please, no jokes about being "pistol-whipped")
