  1. I call marketing stunt for something that isn't ice cream.

    1. Halo Top is a brand that I am able to get here in New Mexico, they are out of California. They also have a few other strange commercials, but none this odd.

    2. Well... then it kind of worked, I suppose. I'm not going to forget that brand in a hurry. Not sure I have positive associations though. (And I also cast my vote for a 2001 resemblance).

  2. That first one would make me want to never eat ice cream again. Wow.

  3. Thinking about the process that led to lots of people saying "Yes, that's how we should market our product!" is a great source of amusement, although it's hard for me to maintain the image of corporate CEOs as stodgy old guys.

  4. None of those ads make me want to eat a bowl of ice cream. Were these directed by David Lynch?

  5. I think the Halo Top commercial is a satirical play on 'Black Mirror.' Highly recommend if you're interested in a haunting, modern Twilight Zone.

    1. I would love to watch the Black Mirror series, but I think in the U.S. it's only available on Netflix streaming, and we only have Netflix DVD service. :-(

    2. I think the first one is based on 2001 Space Odyssey room. Hence her asking where David is.

    3. Good thought. For me there were undertones of the end of Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

    4. Perhaps you can try Netflix Vista.

  6. Yeah I'm getting 2001 from Halo Top as well, with asking about David, and the focus on the spoon the same way Kubrick focused on the glass Dave knocked off the table and broke on the floor. It's strange to me that that's not the first place more people go, but it is an old, slow, quiet movie and that can't survive in today's entertainment landscape... :(
