  1. I find lists like this kind of funny. I always wonder what the threshold is for inclusion. Is it something someone uttered once or are these terms actually in use somewhere? Reminds me a lot of the racial slur database. I can't find any reference to Pacific Northwest "white trash" being called "Moss Eaters" in any place other than that database.

  2. It seems to me that since anyone can add names to the database, that they are susceptible to prank additions and uncommon neologisms.

    But it is interesting.

  3. The reflexively-derisive nature of some of the terms seems to be a capricious addition ... or possibly the bitter acknowledgment of an addiction (whereas other terms suggest a dissociation - how many bikers will refer to their drug of choice as "biker dope", etc).

Definitely an interesting thought exercise, however, the only terms I've heard in regular use on the street and amongst regular users have been "crystal", "shard", and "dope" (also the preferred shorthand for marijuana, heroin, or whatever else it is people are smoking) - a term with its own well-established connotations.

  4. Regarding A. Fischer's comment, I grew up in the Northwest and I have never heard the phrase "moss eaters" until now.

    What an odd term...

  5. Looks like my home state of Utah can still hold the title for biggest meth cooking state for a little bit longer. It's also known as the biggest consumer of antidepressants in the country. I remember when we were just teased for the amount of Jello used there...
