"Rev. Thomas Childe Barker and his daughter"
The photograph was taken (and presumably composed) by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) in 1864. Every picture may tell a story, but this one seems a bit obscure.
It looks as if she just "turned" him a la Twilight.
