A "titanium escape ring"

"It's a simple but elegant-looking ring made of titanium, cut from solid barstock and polished to a mirror finish. But unlike all other rings, this one contains a saw and handcuff shim pick combination tool which is completely hidden from view when worn.

Located on a finger, its always in the exact area needed to quickly access and deploy, even when handcuffed. The shim can be used to open single-locked handcuffs, while the saw can cut zip-ties, disposable handcuffs, duct tape, rope, and other non-metallic materials.
For sale ($80) here, via Boing Boing.

  1. At first I thought the title referred to a breakaway ring. Titanium rings can be a safety issue since they're extremely difficult to cut off fingers in case of an accident (such as a broken hand). If someone anticipates needing to pick or saw their way out of restraints, I'm not sure if they're living the kind of lifestyle where titanium jewelry is a good choice!

I won't deny the cool factor, though.

  2. Great! That'll come in handy, just before you get shot in the back while "resisting arrest".

  4. all the cops double lock the handcuffs
too keep the perp from tightening them, causing nerve damage, and blaming the cops.
