But is it really? As in is it really dog poo? Our cities are full of wildlife that many people are unaware of. Coyotes, fox, opossum, raccoons and so on... all of which can leave a deposit that might easily mistaken for that of a small to medium size dog. I seriously doubt the average person is equipped to tell the difference based on visual inspection.
Wild animals are more civilized (ie- discreet) and don't tend to leave their poop in the middle of public sidewalks. And one never quite gets used to human poop out in the public domain- of which there is a disgusting amount of in San Francisco of late. And yeah, the average person is equipped to tell the difference based on visual inspection. And you don't have to inspect all that hard, either...
Yes, as a recent resident of San Francisco I can assure you, Anon, that you CAN tell the difference between human or "other" feces. And yes, SF is full of human feces. The human poo problem is on my personal list of "reasons we left" after 20+ years of toiling away in the city by the Bay.
