"Things You Wouldn't Know If We Didn't Blog Intermittently."
Yes. It took me a while to work out the gist of the cartoon, I guess due to my having left the raft of stupidity that is belief in cloud dwelling deities, and the attending practices, when I was 13 or 14, but more so because we had a tourist murdered here in New Zealand recently whose name was Grace and that murder was the main news item for many months.
With respect, the belief of other people in cloud-dwelling deities, or any deities at all for that matter, is exactly as rational as your choice to believe in no such deity. The key word here is 'belief'. Belief, by its nature, cannot be proven, nor can it be disproven. I respect your choice of beliefs; please have the decency to show that same respect for others, even (and especially) when you disagree with them. Mutual respect is the key to peaceful coexistence.Oh, and for the record, atheism is a religion just like monotheism, polytheism, or pantheism. Religion: A system of beliefs about the purpose and nature of existence, which *may or may not* include a god, gods, or god figures. Just food for thought.
Well said, and in a most respectful manner.
