"It Could Have Been Worse"

I'm going to close this year's blogging by highlighting the phrase above. It is a wonderful anodyne for any hurt (real or imagined) that you experience.

Repeat the phrase to yourself whenever you are injured, your sports team is defeated, your finances are compromised, your marriage goes through a rough patch, or news stories on the internet are depressing.

Best wishes to all for a better 2010.

  2. Happy New Year from me, too. You are right, it could have been worse. It is so simple and logical really, but we (I at least) never think this way so we are (I am) forever moaning about everything.

  3. When I first heard a fellow teacher say, "Never complain; never explain," I thought it was so wise and began using it with my children. Not until much later did I discover it is attributed to Disraeli, twice Prime Minister of the UK in the 1800's.
