"Breaking Bad" in real life

More than 17,500 pounds (7,930 kg) of meth and 389 pounds (176 kg) of fentanyl were discovered last Thursday, hidden inside a tractor-trailer at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in San Diego, according to a statement from the US Attorney’s Office.

  1. I'm no druggie, I worry enough about taking my prescription drugs, but I do wonder what would happen if all the illegal drugs were made legal, you know, quality checked, taxed, distributed into retail stores.
Obviously it would reduce the cost, dollar wise and human wise, as the gangs and cartels lost their monopolies, but I would like to know how many more users there would be, seeing how the high cost doesn't stop people buying such anyway.
The tax revenue would be huge, seems a shame not to get it.
