I suspect this video has been sped up. There are several moments where a black spec (a bird) sutters quickly through the camera frame. see for example 1:08
Another video from the quadcopters view - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxU4GdlTHDg
If I was a military planner, these things loaded with hand grenades would be incredibly concerning. People with a set of quadcopters, and a box of hand-grenades could sit a couple of kilometers from a target, load up the quadcopter, fly it to a target, drop the grenade from above or lob it from a short distance, and have the quadcopter back to reload in under a minute.
Oh, and being indoors would be exactly perfect defense against them either: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAzrGuOqB0g
These things loaded with weaponized anthrax spores would be even more dangerous. I'm sure there are people in the military who aren't sleeping well at night. :(
Further: I'm almost of the opinion that drone tech is a technology we can't afford to have, and that we need to ban it. Or at the least, very very strictly regulate who has what. That _still_ isn't going to prevent occasional disasters, I fear.

ReplyDeleteI see the black dot you're referring to.
DeleteI found another video by the same guy filmed at the same locale. I think the speed is valid.

Ride of the Valkyries just became Flight of the Bumblebee.
ReplyDeleteNow what we need to do it so size it up large enough so that someone could ride in it.
