The card was actually selected prior to the portion of the trick shown in the show, and Harrison Ford has a reputation for a particular form of recreational activity that may have affected his ability to concentrate on the events occurring. The orange was the only fruit in the bowl that many would say could be opened up.
We don't see how Ford "chooses" his card. It was likely a force where the magician, forces a card to be selected. To the audience and the subject it appears that Ford had free choice, but there was no free choice at all. So Blaine forces Ford to pick the 9 of hearts. He then has Ford choose a piece of fruit. Either the fruit was all given to Ford as a gift for the host from the polite magician, or he snuck a bunch of gimmicked fruit in the bowl, so that no matter what fruit he picked, there would be a 9 of hearts inside. How do you gimmick fruit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek2Qn4sB2c4
That video was really cool (did you make it)? I guess what I'm wondering is how he forced him to pick a certain card without putting the whole trick at risk if the participant didn't pick up on the force. Was it something like the torn card in the video, but that happened before the camera was rolling or was edited out?
I agree with Anonymous, the whole time I was watching that, I was wondering if Harris has had a stroke. I was even looking for the drooping mouth and eye. Very odd delayed/dumbed down reaction to every request and even the speech in whispers. Worrying.
Just before the card is revealed Harrisons's hands drop below the frame. This makes me skeptical--plus he's an actor!

ReplyDeletethe scary part is that ford's actions and reactions are very similar to someone who has had a stroke.
ReplyDeleteI-)
That's exactly what I was thinking the whole time I was watching that. I was even looking for the drooping mouth.

ReplyDeleteThink more recreational, and less medical.
