Make bread from any flavor ice cream in five minutes. Instructions in the video, found at
Laughing Squid.
The YouTube comments are, as expected, worthless. Perhaps someone here can try this and report back on the results. I'm on a diet at the moment, and the last thing I need in the house is mint chocolate chip bread.
We have made this with maple walnut icecream and baked it in the oven at 350F for 30 min. It was pretty good. It wasn't as sweet as we first expected, but it was definitely rich and moist.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the microwaved version, we just don’t do a whole lot of microwaved anything.
I tried this with vanilla ice cream and added fresh blueberries. It was fun to try and okay to eat, but without the blueberries, it would have been bland. It's really the texture more of a quick bread, not a yeast bread texture. I think it would have been better in the regular or convection oven, but if you want to try this for a quick snack or breakfast, it's okay. I think the lack of eggs changes the flavor and texture of anything baked. Now if I had some frozen custard, I'd give it another try for comparison. Of course if I had frozen custard, I don't think I'd waste it on microwave bread.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy.
DeleteGiven that the recipe calls for melted ice cream, that would mean making it with melted frozen custard which is just... custard?
