50 years passes like nothing

1959 Chevy vs. 2009 Chevy in a crash test.

Via Reddit, where the comment thread includes observations about the attitudes of classic car enthusiasts.

  1. It is marvelous how far engineering has come in terms of safety. Bravo.

  2. That's a great video to show whenever someone tells you the evil car industry doesn't innovate, cars are always just getting heavier and bigger and fuel consumption is ignored.

A lot of that weight is used for safety.

    1. Pretty sure the "auto industry" was dragged screaming & kicking toward safer cars.

Do not beleive that the initiative came from them.

  3. Thank goodness they don't make them like they used to.

  4. The fuzzy dice are a nice touch.

  5. I had a bronze 59 Chevy. Sure glad I didn't get into any accidents!

  6. Don't quote me on this(ha ha) but it is my understanding that the Chevy was not a complete vehicle in any way. In fact it was an incomplete derelict missing much of the structure that would have given it the needed strength.

  7. I had one of them Chevys back in the '60s: blue, station wagon. Took me to a lot of powwows.
