This would be a MAJOR escalation in the war

When you see the words Bab al Mandab Strait in mainstream news sources, pay close attention.  This is the southern exit from the Red Sea and a major route for Saudi Arabia to export its oil.  If the Houthis effectively close it, expect the price of Brent and WTI to reach new highs quickly.

The world economy better pray that the U.S. generals can convince Trump not to escalate the bombing of Iran to civilian sites.

  1. Just a reminder, that, by the letter of the law, Trump's entire military command is illegitimate. A convicted felon, which Trump is, cannot serve in the US Military; that includes the role of Commander-in-Chief. He has no legitimate authority, and as such any military commander would be fully justified in simply ignoring his orders.

    1. Nope. The President is not in the military, and is not serving in the military. No military commander would be justified to ignore his/her orders solely on the basis of your assertion. The US Constitution designates the president as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, a fundamentally civilian position. The founders established this civilian leadership to ensure that the military remains subordinate to the elected representatives of the people (the President and Congress). The civilian-led military requirement stems from a deep-rooted historical fear of military dictatorship and tyranny.

      Congress has the power to declare war, and they have the power to end the participation of the military in this war. The last time they declared war was on June 4, 1942, against Axis-aligned Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania during World War II.

  2. Couple of points;

    The world economy is already praying that the U.S. generals overthrow trump and his wanna be orange minions.

    The president of the U.S. has already effectively stolen control of the Venezuelan oil fields ..... and while I abhor the orange bloke and his big shoe'd puppets, perhaps that black gold could be funnelled towards my country a bit, alleviate my personal fuel costs and my weekly checkout total, I mean, how many billions of personal wealth does the narcissist need, while I am trying to afford to feed my cats ?

  3. It's not up to US generals to stop Trump. It's up to US politicians. And they are refusing. And their voters are letting them.

    Blaming the military is ignoring the responsibility of the public.
