That's a pretty good map, though the truth is more granular than that if you have a good ear. The city of Bath, for instance, is right on the line between the Bristol and Somerset accents and has an accent somewhere between the two. The north of the city of Manchester has a different accent to the South. Both of these cases are for people from the same 'class' and the British classes will also have different accents, leading to much antipathy as soon as someone opens their mouth in the 'wrong' setting.
You can tell that people have stuck close to home and not traveled by how each small region has developed its own dialect. It is the same way in Norway. Every fjord has a different dialect from the next one over.
That map needs an audio file for each dialect, each of a person saying the same sentence or phrases, so you can compare them for likedness / diffs.
