I was doing disaster relief in the immediate impact of the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa (and many other areas) in 2012. In a meeting straight out of central casting, an old sheriff, who was set to retire in 2 weeks, addressed the young law enforcement officers assembled there. I am paraphrasing him: Look, this has been a terrible thing. If you open your eyes, you are about to witness something incredible. People in the community caring for one another. Really loving on people they never met before. If you are looking for the bad, you'll find it, sure, but you'll miss the miracle in front of your eyes.
Thanks for the smiles, and for a few tears...
ReplyDeleteI needed that. Thanks, Cuz
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, badly needed reminder about the humanity in the unwashed masses.
