Americans on the move

Forbes has an interactive map showing the movement of 10 million Americans in 2008, based on IRS data involving moves of 10 or more people between counties.  The images above are static, showing examples of an urban and a rural area in the upper midwest.  Go to the Forbes link for further exploration of where you live.

  1. It should be pointed out that a decent percentage of the population of Dane County are students at the University of Wisconsin, who upon graduation mostly leave Dane County for elsewhere. That may account for at least some of the people who have moved out state.
