Screencap from an otherwise enjoyable movie I watched recently. This scene has not been recorded at the classic Movie Mistakes website, but I can guarantee that the height of those IV fluids is worthy of mentioning.
Reposted from 2024 to add this howler:
Those are screencaps from a decent program I watched recently (the name of which I can't recall). Documented because the medical error is so egregiously bad that even non-medical people in the viewing audience must have cringed. Does nobody fact-check scripts any more??

Yep! I noticed that right away!

The IVs are for the guy in the lower bunk.

Welcome to the world of scientists watching movies.
ReplyDeleteThere's a huge difference between implied suspension of disbelieve - for space travel and laser guns, and just lazily put together labs that do not make any fucking sense.
"Oh get some glassware, put in some colorful liquid in and use the bubbling CO2 smoke! That's what chemistry looks like".
These people have never been in a lab.
It's weird that virtually every movie will put out some PR out about how they obsessed about getting something right, but that thing rarely is the reality of science.
Meanwhile, the administration is completely defunding health and science, so don't count on there being any Americans left that know science in a decade or two.
They've even tossed the NSF out of their brand new headquarters, without telling them where to go:

Note that this is all under the guise of giving HUD a better office, but they have no love for that department either, so that move will be botched in the DOGE possible way.
While the press is distracted by all the nonsense from POTUS (is this really still news?), the destruction of the Federal government continues at a rapid pace.
