A guaranteed win for a "bar bet"

Bet someone they can't name the country with which France shares its longest border, and give them three or four guesses... "Germany? Spain? Belgium? Italy?..."

The answer is Brazil (on the border with French Guiana, which is as much a part of France as Alaska is part of the United States).  Map of "constituent lands."

Reposted from 2020 because I found it while browsing my old geography posts.

  2. I already knew the answer to this one, but if you asked me to name all the countries that Brazil (or Canada - as per Christian's comment) borders, I'd never think of France.

  3. The problem with questions like this is that they're more semantics questions than knowledge or estimation questions.

Also, I would not have picked Belgium to share the longest European border of France. And I've crossed that border quite a few times in different spots. Always assumed the Spanish border would be way longer.
