As I recall, "Spare the rod and spoil the child." does not appear in the New Testament. I do seem to recall things like, "Turn the other cheek", "Love thy neighbor", "Do unto others", and a few things like that. How is this Christian practice?
Turn your cheek on gluttony, theft, and failing to obey parents? Your child isn't your neighbor they are you chatel. Beat the holy spirit into the child ! (Sarcasm)
