"A high school senior in Louisiana was stripped of her student government president title and scholarship opportunities after a video circulating on social media showed the 17-year-old girl dancing with friends at a party last week.Kaylee Timonet, a senior at Walker high school, was seen dancing at a private homecoming afterparty on 30 September, behind a friend who was twerking. Earlier this week, the school principal said he would revoke her leadership role and assistance in scholarship applications.“They basically told me that I should be ashamed of myself,” Timonet told a local news outlet. “That I wasn’t basically following God’s ideals, which made me cry even more.”...“I just started crying hysterically,” Timonet said. “I was really, really upset because student government is the best thing that happened to me during high school.”The mother, who was present at the event, added that the student body paid for the private venue at the Livingston Parish Country Club, as well as for the DJs performance.“They were just having fun,” Timonet’s mother said. “She should not be questioned or spoken about faith at all. It’s a public school, not a private school.”

If a school principal can't see a young lady dance without thinking about the Bible, he is not suitable for his position. Those two subjects are not related. Unless he is thinking of the Song of Songs.

He should quickly be removed from his job, and as a plea-deal for the inevitable lawsuit I suggest he do a year of credits in DEI, LGBTQ and equality studies at the local university.
A year of DEI, LGBTQ, equality studies? Let's go a little easier on the guy and maybe pull out his entrails and burn them on a bed of coals. I think the 9th Amendment prohibits forcing people to endure gender studies torture sessions. And don't the Geneva Conventions apply in the identity ideology war?
DeleteThe girl's scholarship opportunities should not be taken from her, I don't believe. But the presidency of student government? That sounds about fair, after all she displayed actions that are contrary to solid leadership.
ReplyDeleteThere are people who make up the lewdest dances possible (see "daggering"). It is usually part of a sliver of black society. To be in a party where that was going on...well, you can't help what someone else is doing, but you don't have to get in the picture with them. The blatant sexualization of our young ladies is reprehensible.

Deleteto the fellow anonymous above: with the american religious types, the argument usually boils down to a lot of (more or less flowery) words that mean ‘a woman expressed joy’ (which is both unprofessional and unbecoming, for women are to be kept subservient to men and birthing their offspring.) and ‘that thing the woman did elicited a reaction in my nether regions’ (which does not mean there’s something weird about the person who got the boner, but that the thing the woman did was purely and objectively sexual, and, as per above, women are not to express any sexuality, because that is uncouth, immoral, and unbecoming.)

I've seen maybe four articles on this story, and now I've even seen the video, and I still can't figure out what was so objectionable about the dancing, or why this one girl was singled out among all these kids.

DeleteThe principal has retracted his decision, though too late to save Kaylee's scholarships, which were due October 3, and now he has taken a leave of absence. Kaylee, bless her heart, has lawyered up.
