Please reconsider whether chuckle-worthiness is the sole metric you should use when spreading or promoting this man’s art.
I would rather be a few chuckles poorer as a human being than to be a consumer-cog in a machine that empowers this man to spread the hate that is in his heart.
If you need more context - just days ago he advised in a public forum that “white people need to get the hell away from black people.”
I'll add a few more thoughts. I have somewhere in this blog at least two posts about Hitler that don't vilify him - just info about his architectural drawings and painting style.
And I have in the right sidebar an entire category about [shudder] Trump. The idea that my posts indirectly "promote" something reflects an exaggeration of the influence of TYWKIWDBI.
If there is any influence re Scott Adams, it is likely negative. I would bet that the vast vast majority of Dilbert readers are blissfully unaware of Scott Adams' political and social views. By posting some of his material here and allowing readers like you to offer polite, informed, coherent criticism of the cartoonist, some other readers will now be enlightened on the controversy. (an apparently peculiar characteristic of TYWKIWDBI is that visitors here tend to read the comments - not true AFAIK on most blogs).
So feel free to keep adding your counterpoint on future posts. :-)
Why do you promote Dilbert when Adams politics seem so far removed from yours?
ReplyDeleteHis politics may be reprehensible, but his humor is incisive. I post whatever I find chuckleworthy.

I am quite aware of the controversy. Saw this today -

I can attest to this. I had no idea of this man’s political views. I do now, however!
