Modern torture chamber uses a dental chair

As reported by The Guardian:
The discovery of a soundproofed torture chamber believed to have been used by a narcotics gang should remind recreational cocaine users of the consequences of their habits, a Dutch public prosecutor has said...

Two years ago, police officers, acting on intercepted messages, discovered seven shipping containers in Wouwse Plantage in Brabant, six of which were allegedly used as cells containing handcuffs and legcuffs.

In the seventh container was a refashioned dentist’s chair, with straps for tying arms and legs, finger clamps, scalpels, claw hammers, pliers, loppers, pruning shears, gas burners, tie wraps and duct tape. The container was sound proofed...

In both sites, officer found stolen police uniforms, bulletproof vests and blue flashing lights.

  1. As a kid, going to an anesthesia-less dentist WAS torture.

  2. Keep in mind that it's not the drugs that cause this catastrophe, it's the laws. Nobody is getting tortured over alcohol, even though it caused 5 times more deaths than cocaine in 2021 (and that's not counting the traffic accidents).

  4. I used to think, at least the good ol' US of A doesn't torture (as official policy)...

When filming Marathon Man, Sir Laurence Olivier noticed the appalling shape Dustin Hoffman was in one day on set. He asked what was wrong. The Method actor replied that he had been preparing himself for his role as someone who hadn't slept for days, had been tortured, etc... Sir Laurence Olivier replied, "My dear boy, why don't you just act it?"

  5. Just to clarify: this particular torture chamber was discovered before it had been put into use. (Doesn't say anything about the ones they didn't find, of course.)
