Named Halomonas titanicae, the bacterium was isolated from samples of so-called rusticles present on the wreck. These dark orange structures look like icicles but are made up of rust.

That's what those things on the Titanic's bow are called. Discovery News reports that the ship is being "eaten by bacteria."

I have a bad feeling that there is going to be an effort to raise her, or at least parts of her for preservation purposes with this news.
