I think the Reddit caution is over the top. Toner particles are plastic and carbon. You want to avoid breathing the dust, but vegetable oil and toner particles aren't going to wick into your bloodstream. You want to avoid breathing the dust and, since it's black toner for ****sake, you want to play with it where you can manage the mess. Anyone who's ever worked on a laser printer or copier can tell you the stuff is hard to wash off. Details on composition, cleanup and hazards are on the Wikipedia site:
