Reposted from 2022 for the 2024 election result. Here is the first verse of the famous source:
Turning and turning in the widening gyreThe falcon cannot hear the falconer;Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhereThe ceremony of innocence is drowned;The best lack all conviction, while the worstAre full of passionate intensity.
----William Butler Yeats
I assume you mean Yeats's Second Coming?
ReplyDeleteTurning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

and then he broke off, his brow creasing. He said, "shit. I used to know the whole thing."

Clearly a prescient League of Legends reference.

ReplyDeleteIt may be a horror story, but it will be a .... no, it'll just be a horror story.
The only respite from cowering behind the sofa trembling in fear being the on screen death of wokism.
We will probably see a new 'royal' family come into being in our lifetimes ... yay ?
Or we will see a new dictatorship being wrought before our very open eyes
... a ruse by any other name ... would smell as reek.
(you try and rhyme Shakespeare)
Booth is good cope. I've always loved his ubiquitous bull terrier with the shovel-shaped head. An interviewer once asked him about the dog's expressions in scenes such as this (he must have drawn essentially this composition over a hundred times). He said something like, you're just sitting there minding your own business, and then all of a sudden, somebody says something *so* stupid that you just want to scratch.
ReplyDeleteAs a European citizen I'm no fan of Trump but your left has completely lost the plot and is in dire need of a reality check. Wokism has gone way to far and censorship has taken a firm hold of social media.
ReplyDeletei.e., "the center is not holding"
DeleteI give you the 'Jews for Hitler Party'. Guess what happened...
