I've previously posted photos of interesting ice formations, including round ice floes in Russia and a "creek circle" in Canada. This photo above was posted at the cosmos of enlightened vision; the disk was reportedly seen on the Salmon River in Idaho.

This disc formed on the Presumpscot River in Westbrook, Maine. It's about a hundred meters in diameter. Details, plus a rather unexciting video at Gizmodo, via Neatorama.
Cool! When I was a kid I used to see these every once in a while in the brook that ran behind our house. We'd watch them for a while, then break them up by chucking rocks at them from the bank and watch the chunks bump away downstream. Good times!

Interesting, I remember reading an article some time ago that was about a similar phenomonon, which occured with a perfectly circular hole in the middle of ice, usually unstable to walk. It kinda tried to link it to crop cirlces somehow...
