family matters first.  not sure how long this one will last.

    i hope it's the good kind of family matters & not the worrisome kind.

    when you get back you might want to read Greg Laden's accounts of being an archaeology grad student in the Congo right before war broke out... very interesting and quite funny. http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/congo_memoirs/
