Giant eggs, and eggs-within-eggs

It was only yesterday that I blogged a giant chicken egg in Cornwall. Today Arbroath reports on another hen - this one in Gloucester - that not only lays giant eggs, but does so on a regular, monthly basis. And the most recent had another egg inside the giant egg, like a Matryoshka doll. Perhaps someone should check the water in Great Britain.

One thing leads to another (which is why I spend half a day blogging...) The video embedded above is of an egg inside another egg. The physiology of double egg production was explained in the Biological Bulletin in 1916. (via)

I'm not going to keep pursuing double eggs. You can do that in your blog. I've had enough trouble keeping up with the severed feet saga.
