Iranian missiles going to Venezuela ??

I know nothing about the source link; they are citing a report in Germany's Die Welt.
Iran is planning to place medium-range missiles on Venezuelan soil, based on western information sources, according to an article in the German daily, Die Welt, of November 25, 2010. According to the article, an agreement between the two countries was signed during the last visit o Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to Tehran on October19, 2010. The previously undisclosed contract provides for the establishment of a jointly operated military base in Venezuela, and the joint development of ground-to-ground missiles...

According to Die Welt, Venezuela has agreed to allow Iran to establish a military base manned by Iranian missile officers, soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Venezuelan missile officers. In addition, Iran has given permission for the missiles to be used in case of an "emergency". In return, the agreement states that Venezuela can use these facilities for "national needs" – radically increasing the threat to neighbors like Colombia. The German daily claims that according to the agreement, Iranian Shahab 3 (range 1300-1500 km), Scud-B (285-330 km) and Scud-C (300, 500 and 700 km) will be deployed in the proposed base...

The situation that is unfolding in Venezuela has some resemblance to the Cuba crisis of 1962. At that time, Cuba was acting on behalf of the USSR; now Venezuela is acting on behalf of Iran.
The final paragraph of the article places the blame for this development on the Obama administration...

  1. I can predict with 100% confidence that we will not allow this to happen, nor should. End of discussion.

  2. Strange:
Iranian missiles going to Venezuela ??

Erm how many billions of US military crap ends up in the hands of crazies?

The US funded Osama Bin Laden!

The US funded the overthrow or how many democratically elected governments?

The US funded Al Quida and the mujahidin.
Any one for the little old Iran/Contra" scandal?

The school of the Americas?? Anyone??
    Human rights violations??

Usually does not repost rubbish like:
    Iranian missiles going to Venezuela

    What happened?

  3. Anon, I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to the material as "trash." Is it not true? Or is it just not pleasant to read?

I'm not defending the content (or the editorial approach), but if it's false or misleading, I want to post a retraction or delete it.

  4. I like your work and have been reading your site for over a year. But where does this story fit?

I am sure you are old enough to remember the Iran Contra thing.

When America and Israel were shipping weapons to Iran.

Or maybe you can remember when the Americans were shipping weapons to the Mujahideen.

Maybe you know of The School of Americas, that is sadly no longer with us (they changed the name but, not the lessons)?

This article is trash because it is just more of the usual propaganda spouted my the Western media.

You normally stand above things like this.

  5. Yes, I was about 40 years old when Iran Contra occurred.

And I'm quite aware of black ops and false flags and other dirty tricks. I could even see something like this story being an excuse for intervention in (not-coincidentally oil-rich) Venezuela.

I post lots of stuff. Some rubbish may get mixed in at times. Now I'm moving on, to hurdy-gurdys and sulfur mines and Seurat paintings...

  6. I don't understand what Anon says, nor does he. He's comparing apples and oranges to extract his point, which is true, but unrelated to the topic.

  7. Venezuela, with its anti-USA rhetoric, is in the midst of a small "cold war" against its neighbour, USA-backed Colombia. There are many US military bases in Colombia, so why wouldn't Venezuela allow, say, a Russian, French or Iranian base?
To raise up the Contra aura of this whole conflict, let's just make clear that the USA still buy lots of oil from Venezuela, and probably its biggest source of foreign income.
To top it up, this isn't fault of Obama in any way. It began with W Bush.
Obama is maybe expecting Brazil to take action upon the issue and attain peace.
