Jadwiga, canonised saint and the first female monarch of Poland, held the title of King as Queens couldn’t rule, but the law didn’t state that a King had to be male.
On a similar but different note, Luxembourg used to be part of the realm of the Dutch monarchs, but when King William III died and his wife became Queen Regent for his underage crown princess daughter, the Luxembourgians were like, no no no we can't have a Grand Duchess because of some arcane macho rule so we're now gonna find some distant family member and make him Grand Duke and that's how Luxembourg became an independent country.
Clearly, they are creative when it comes to banking rules, but not so creative when it comes to their heritable Grand Duchy.
Oh the things people do to stay sexist.
