A reminder to vote in your local elections
Even if your state is solidly "red" or "blue" your vote can be important in state and town elections. Those puzzled by the "Jaws" reference should view this video:
I tell my students that everyone shouldn't vote. Why should the vote of someone who couldn't care less cancel out the vote of someone who gave much time and thought to their ballot? No, only INFORMED voters should vote--I mean, AT LEAST know the names of the people, right?
I have often asserted that for the General Election, names should be on the ballot sans any designation as to political party. Put the names in alphabetical order or some random order determined beforehand. At least then voters would have to know the names of their preferred candidates rather than simply voting for someone because they have an "R" or "D" or some other letter after the name.
