"It's a simple but elegant-looking ring made of titanium, cut from solid barstock and polished to a mirror finish. But unlike all other rings, this one contains a saw and handcuff shim pick combination tool which is completely hidden from view when worn. For sale ($80) here, via Boing Boing.
Located on a finger, its always in the exact area needed to quickly access and deploy, even when handcuffed. The shim can be used to open single-locked handcuffs, while the saw can cut zip-ties, disposable handcuffs, duct tape, rope, and other non-metallic materials.

At first I thought the title referred to a breakaway ring. Titanium rings can be a safety issue since they're extremely difficult to cut off fingers in case of an accident (such as a broken hand). If someone anticipates needing to pick or saw their way out of restraints, I'm not sure if they're living the kind of lifestyle where titanium jewelry is a good choice!
ReplyDeleteI won't deny the cool factor, though.
Great! That'll come in handy, just before you get shot in the back while "resisting arrest".
ReplyDeleteThe point is maybe yo get kidnapped or home invasion scene. Tied up restrained in some manner this would be your life saver.
ReplyDeleteall the cops double lock the handcuffs
ReplyDeletetoo keep the perp from tightening them, causing nerve damage, and blaming the cops.
How do you use a saw while handcuffed??
ReplyDeleteMouth and fingers, someone else helping?
Deleteshame you cant use it to escape from the wife.... but it is cool just wonder how long it will be before someone gets on a plane with one......
