Mycological illustrations


Those with a serious interest in fungi (or in art) may wish to browse through "A Brief History of Mycological Illustration," posted at the website of the Harvard University Herbaria.

Shown above top: Boletus luridus and Phallus impudens [copperplate engraving] Trattinnick, Leopold, 1764-1849. ("These plates were hand colored and issued with a series of wax models. Trattnick was also the first to use the term 'mycelium.'")

And below: "One of the finest examples of color printed lithography. Plate 116 Cortinarius [lithography] Boudier, Émile, 1828-1920.
